The Spot

Located on the northern shore of Podersdorf am See, our school is the perfect spot to learn and practice water sports.
Lake Neusiedl is a popular destination for people in love with watersports, and Podersdorf am See has the longest shore free from reeds and mud. With an average depth of 1.15m and its shallow beaches, the lake is the perfect place for beginners and for advanced surfers and sailors. The consistent wind conditions with winds blowing all year in combination with the mild Pannonian climate make our windsurfing and sailing base the perfect spot to practice and learn watersports.

CLASSES

We offer lessons for all skill levels and ages with certified surfing and sailing instructors who love to share their passion for water sports. We teach in German or English, in small groups, or, if desired, one-on-one, through private lessons. 

Registration For Our Classes

To guarantee a smooth process for our classes, we kindly ask you to register in advance. You can also come by without booking and ask if there are spots left, but we can’t guarantee you a place without pre- registration. Registration is possible via email at info@nordstrand.at or by phone/ WhatsApp/ Signal at +43 676 9337552. 
If the weather or wind conditions are not suitable for your lesson, the course can easily be rescheduled for another day.

Dates and Schedules

Dates and schedules for our regular courses for 2024
Throughout April, May, June and September courses take place on weekends and on public holidays, and in July and August courses take place every day. Regular courses start at 10:00 a.m., afternoon courses start at 2:00 p.m. The minimum number of participants required is 3; if there are fewer participants, the courses are shortened or held as private classes.​
If our regular schedule does not suit you – let us know and we will try to offer you an alternative option.

Meeting point is at our Surf und Segelschule Nordstrand. Please note that the beach entrance fee is not included in our course pricing and needs to be paid separately. Swimm skills are required to participate in any of our courses.

Aside from our regular courses, we organize windsurfing camps for kids and courses with different emphases, like advanced courses and freestyle camps or ladies windsurfing camps. The upcoming dates are to be announced on this page and our social media accounts. For school groups we offer special school sports courses.​ More information you can find in our school sports brochure. For corporate and private events, send us a request and we will get back to you with an offer tailored to your needs.

RENTAL OFFERS

If you want to be active and do sports, or if you just want to relax and have a good time at the lake, you can rent out various sports gear such as windsurfing equipment, wingsurfing equipment, SUPs, kayaks, sailboats and pedal boats. Our rental offerings are designed to make these fun activities accessible to everyone.
At check-in we kindly ask you to deposit an ID which will be refunded when you check out.

Windsurfing

Our windsurfing station offers a wide range of equipment and includes the latest boards and sails from the brands Fanatic and Duotone.  You can find the right equipment for all wind conditions and every level of windsurfing. For beginners we provide stable boards with lots of volume and light sails for easy lift. Beginner equipment guarantees rapid progress and enjoyment. Advanced surfers can choose from a broad range of boards and sails of different sizes and types: freeride, freestyle, racing and wave for particularly strong winds. Our rental base is well equipped with boards reaching from 69l to 200l in volume and sails from 1.5 m2 to 7.8m2. For children we offer special children’s windsurfing equipment with boards that are very easy to maneuver and very light inflatable i-Rigs. Of course, we will also provide you with harnesses and wetsuits if you need them.

 

Our Rental Models

We offer you a range of flexible rental models tailored to suit every type of windsurfing enthusiast. Our service is characterized by flexibility and convenience, allowing you to fully enjoy your time on the water.

  • Seasonal Pass: Our season pass is the ideal solution for frequent windsurfers who want to pursue their passion throughout the season. It offers offers unlimited access to our high quality gear during our opening hours from April to September. You will have the freedom to surf whenever the mood strikes.

  • Hourly Rental: Perfect for spontaneous trips, morning or afternoon sessions, this rental mode allows maximum flexibility for your needs. You can surf for as long as you desire, and afterwards you pay for the time you spend on the water. You don’t have to decide in advance how long your session will be. It’s all about windsurfing on your terms.

  • Daily Rental: Our daily rental is excellent for day trips or weekends at the beach. Experience the thrill of windsurfing for an entire day without worrying about the storage or transportation of your equipment. Our well-maintained equipment is ready for your next adventure.

  • Weekly Rental: Planning a holiday at Lake Neusiedl? This rental model allows you to rent your equipment for an entire week for a great price. It provides a cost-effective way to pursue your passion without worrying about the storage or transportation of your own equipment.

We understand that each windsurfer is unique, and so are their preferences. If none of our rental models suits your specific needs, let us know about the frequency and duration you want to surf, your level of surfing (and any additional services you want) and we will offer you a custom package.

Wingsurfing

Wingsurfing is a new watersport that is booming. It is a sport for everyone, practicable at any age, allowing quick learning and having fun. To practice wingsurfing, you need a gentle breeze, which we almost always have at Lake Neusiedl. At our Surfing Base you can rent the latest Duotone & Fanatic wing and foil equipment of different sizes. To rent a wing with a SUP Board or Windsurfboard basic surfing skills are required or you must have visited a wingsurfing trial course. If you would like to rent a wingfoil, basic foil skills (meaning you can go up and downwind without any problems), are required. If you have not reached this level yet or if you do not feel safe enough to practice on your own, we recommend joining one of our wing classes with our certified wingsurfing instructors. In addition to equipment rentals, we offer a boat shuttle.

Sailing

If you have basic sailing skills, you can rent a dinghy (model Ixylon) on an hourly basis at our sailing school. At check-in we will kindly ask you to present a basic sailing license or a BFA license. The boats are sportive, very responsive and are suited for a maximum of 3-4 people. If you want to refresh or improve your skills we recommend booking a class with one of our certified sailing instructors.

Stand Up Paddling – Kayak – Pedal boat

For those who prefer to rest and relax, our SUPs, kayaks and pedal boats are the best choice.

SUP is the abbreviation for Stand-Up-Paddling. Over the last few years it has become a trendy sport as it is easy to learn, it is excellent for balance training, a great workout and at the same time very relaxing. This watersport is well suited for all ages and is fun for the whole family. Our rental base offers different types of SUP boards in different sizes. Whether you are a seasoned pro or a first-time adventurer we will find the right board for you at our rental base.

Aside from the hourly rental model, we offer seasonal cards for SUPs and Kajaks as well as seasonal cards for the entire family.

Beach Bar

At our cozy beach bar, also known as Kurtl’s Spritzerhütte, you can enjoy the most beautiful sunsets and simply relax. Additionally, you will be provided with drinks and snacks here during your surfing and sailing breaks. It is also the perfect location for corporate and private events. If you wish to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays or bachelor and bachelorette parties, send us an inquiry. You can find more information about the events at our beach bar here.
