The Spot

Located on the northern shore of Podersdorf am See, Surf- und Segelschule Nordstrand is the perfect spot to learn and practice watersports on Lake Neusiedl. This popular destination in Burgenland features the longest shoreline free from reeds and mud, making it easy for beginners and advanced water sports enthusiasts alike to access the water. With an average depth of 1.10m and shallow beaches, Lake Neusiedl offers ideal conditions for windsurfing, sailing, and more.Thanks to its consistent winds throughout the year and the mild Pannonian climate, our windsurfing and sailing base ensures that every session on the water is both enjoyable and rewarding.

CLASSES

Learn Windsurfing, Wingsurfing & Sailing at Lake Neusiedl!
At our Surf- und Segelschule Nordstrand in Podersdorf am See (Burgenland, Austria), we offer professional instruction in windsurfing, wingsurfing, and sailing. Our certified instructors have extensive experience in watersports and are eager to share their passion for the sport and expert knowledge with you.

We provide courses for all skill levels and ages—whether you’re a beginner, refresher, intermediate, or already advanced. Lessons are held in German or English, either in small groups or private (one-on-one) sessions, ensuring you receive individual attention and make rapid progress.

Dates & Schedule
April – June: Courses take place on weekends and public holidays.
July – September: Courses run daily.
Private classes can be scheduled daily from April to September.

Course Participation & Registration
You can join a course at any time with prior registration. To ensure a smooth process, please register in advance by emailing info@nordstrand.at or by calling/messaging us on phone, WhatsApp, or Signal at +43 676 9337552. Please note that swimming skills are required for participation in all our courses.

The meeting point is our Surf- und Segelschule Nordstrand, located inside the beach area. We’re situated between the E1 and E2 beach entrances, and you can use either entrance to reach us. The beach entrance fee is not included in the course price and must be paid separately.

Special Courses, Camps & School Sports Weeks
In addition to our regular courses, we offer specialized camps and training programs such as kids’ watersports camps, power jibe courses, and ladies’ windsurfing camps. Upcoming dates will be announced on this page and our social media channels.

For class groups we offer special school sports courses, giving students the opportunity to experience windsurfing, sailing, and other watersports in a fun and educational environment. Find more details in our School Sports Brochure.
Additionally, customized group sessions are available for corporate and private events—perfect for team-building activities and watersports adventures at Lake Neusiedl.

Ready to hit the water? Rent high-quality watersports equipment & boats at our rental base at Lake Neusiedl, in Podersdorf. Whether you’re seeking an active adventure or simply want to relax by the lake, our base has everything you need.
Our rental options include windsurfing and wingsurfing gear, stand-up paddleboards (SUPs), kayaks, sailboats, and pedal boats, making Lake Neusiedl accessible to everyone.

No advance booking is required—simply drop by at our rental base! At check-in, we kindly ask you to deposit a valid ID, which will be returned upon check-out. Please note that the beach entrance fee is not included in the rental price and must be paid separately.

High-quality windsurf gear for all wind conditions – From beginner to pro
At our station on Lake Neusiedl in Podersdorf am See, we offer a wide selection of the latest windsurf boards and sails from Duotone and Fanatic. Whether you’re just starting out or already an experienced rider, you’ll find the right equipment for every wind condition and skill level.

  • Beginners benefit from large, high-volume boards and lightweight training sails for quick progress. 
  • Advanced riders can choose from freeride, freestyle, and wave boards, plus a wide range of sails (from 3.4 m² to 7.8 m²) including freeride, freerace, and wave models for optimal performance.
  • Kids enjoy special, easy-turning junior boards and lightweight children’s rigs, with inflatable i-Rigs for the smallest surfers—ensuring maximum safety and fun on the water.
  • We also rent out harnesses and wetsuits for cooler days.

Season Pass
Our Windsurf Season Pass is ideal for passionate windsurfers looking to indulge in their sport all season long. From early April to late September, you’ll have unlimited access to our high-quality equipment during our opening hours. Depending on wind conditions, you’ll always find the right gear—fully rigged and ready to go.

Hourly Rental
Perfect for spontaneous trips or short sessions, hourly rental gives you maximum freedom. Rent the gear by the hour and spend as much time on the water as you like—no need to commit to a specific timeframe in advance.

Daily Rental
Planning a day trip to Podersdorf or a sporty weekend at Lake Neusiedl? Our daily rental is perfect for day outings or weekend getaways on the beach. Enjoy an unforgettable day on the water without worrying about transport, setup, or storage. With our wide range of boards and sails, you can pick your preferred gear—and even switch it up mid-session.

Weekly Rental
Spending your vacation at Lake Neusiedl and want to travel light? Our weekly rental option makes your windsurfing trip hassle-free by providing top-quality windsurf equipment for an entire week at a great price.

WINGSURFING EQUIPMENT

Wingsurfing is one of the most popular emerging watersports, winning over more watersports fans every season. The big advantage? You can enjoy it even in light wind, creating a whole new way to glide across the water.

At our rental base Nordstrand in Podersdorf am See, you can rent wings, boards, foils and masts in various sizes from Duotone and Fanatic. To rent a wing, you should have basic surfing skills or have completed a wingsurfing beginner course. If you’d like to rent a wingfoil, you should already be comfortable foiling—able to head upwind and downwind without difficulty. If you’re not quite there yet, we recommend taking one of our wingfoil courses first.

For added convenience, we also offer a boat shuttle service alongside our gear rentals, ensuring you have everything you need for an unforgettable wingsurfing experience on Lake Neusiedl.

SAILBOAT RENTAL

If you already know the basics of sailing and can safely handle a sailboat, you can rent our Ixylon or RS Quest dinghies—sporty sailboats that can accommodate up to four people—and set sail on Lake Neusiedl.

Requirements to rent a boat with us:
You must have basic dinghy sailing knowledge, present a recognized sailing certificate (Sailing Basic Certificate or BFA-Schein) at the time of rental, be able to handle dinghies in various wind conditions and know how to swim.

If you’d like to deepen or refresh your sailing skills, our certified instructors are available for private or group lessons, ensuring you’re fully prepared before venturing out on your own.

STAND-UP-PADDLING (SUP), KAYAKING & PEDAL BOATING

Stand-Up Paddling (SUP) is easy to learn, suitable for all ages, and guarantees fun for the whole family. The only requirement is that you know how to swim, as you might occasionally fall into the water.

At our surf and sailing station at Lake Neusiedl, we offer a variety of high-quality SUP boards from Fanatic, perfect for both beginners and experienced paddlers. In addition to SUP, you can also rent kayaks and pedal boats to discover the lake.

Beach Bar

At our cozy beach bar, also known as Kurtl’s Spritzerhütte, you can enjoy the most beautiful sunsets and simply relax. Additionally, you will be provided with drinks and snacks here during your surfing and sailing breaks. It is also the perfect location for corporate and private events.
