Learn windsurfing at Lake Neusiedl! At our Surf- und Segelschule Nordstrand in Podersdorf am See, we offer professional instruction in windsurfing. Our certified instructors have extensive experience in watersports and are eager to share their passion for the sport and expert knowledge with you.
We provide courses for all skill levels and ages—whether you’re a beginner, refresher, intermediate, or already advanced. Lessons are held in German or English, either in small groups or private (one-on-one) sessions, ensuring you receive individual attention and make rapid progress.
Dates & Schedule
April – June: Courses take place on weekends and public holidays.
July – September: Courses run daily.
Private classes can be scheduled daily from April to September.
A minimum of three participants is required; otherwise, classes are shortened or held as private lessons.
Course Participation & Registration
You can join a course at any time with prior registration. To ensure a smooth process, please register in advance by emailing info@nordstrand.at or by calling/messaging us on phone, WhatsApp, or Signal at +43 676 9337552. Please note that swimming skills are required for participation in all our courses.
The meeting point is our Surf- und Segelschule Nordstrand, located inside the beach area. We’re situated between the E1 and E2 beach entrances, and you can use either entrance to reach us. The beach entrance fee is not included in the course price and must be paid separately.
What to Bring
Don’t forget to pack sun protection, swimwear, and a towel. We also recommend bringing neoprene or bathing shoes for more comfort. All courses include equipment, and a wetsuit if needed.
FlexiBreeze System
The course days do not need to be consumed consecutively but can be flexibly divided after consultation. To achieve the greatest learning progress possible, it is recommended to attend the course days in close succession. If weather or wind conditions don’t suit your course, the course can easily be postponed.
WSVO Windsurfing Basic License
Many surf stations require a basic license to prove basic surfing knowledge and to be able to rent windsurfing equipment. Our 5-day basic courses and 2-day intensive courses can be completed with the internationally recognized WSVO Windsurfing License after passing a small theory exam. Depending on the learning process and individual skills, the license can also be obtained after a 4-day course. For children aged 8 to 12 years, a Junior Windsurfing License can be issued after attending a 5-day Children’s Basic Course.
Please let us know upon course entry if you are interested in obtaining a windsurfing license, so we have sufficient time to prepare you for the theoretical part as well.

Beginner Courses

Join our practice oriented 3-hour course! We teach in small groups. After a brief theoretical introduction to windsurf basics, you will start practicing on the water with a certified instructor. After class, you can practice with the windsurfing equipment for the remainder of the day. Course schedule: 10:00-13:00; Daily course entry possible with advance booking.
Want to continue with the course after your trial day? If you enjoyed your first windsurfing experience you can upgrade to a 2-, 3-, 4- day or to the basic beginner course. After the 5-day basic course, you can acquire the internationally recognized Windsurfing Basic License. Depending on your progress, it’s often possible to achieve this after just 4 course days. For those with limited time, we also offer a 2-day intensive course that concludes with the basic license.

For those who cannot make it to the morning classes, we offer an afternoon course starting at 2:00 p.m. After two hours of practice oriented classes with a certified instructor, the windsurf equipment is at your disposal for the rest of the day. For groups larger than three people, different course hours can be scheduled.

In this 15 hour beginner’s-course you learn all the basic skills of windsurfing. At the end of the course you can take the basic license exam. With this internationally recognized windsurfing license you will be able to rent windsurfing equipment at any rental base of your choice.

The windsurfing equipment is at your disposal for free practice outside of teaching hours on days of classes and on one additional day after completing the course.

In this intensive beginner course, you will learn all the basic skills of windsurfing in just two days. The course concludes with the basic license exam. This internationally recognized windsurfing license allows you to rent windsurfing equipment at rental bases worldwide.
The course takes place over two consecutive days, from 10:00–13:00 and 14:00–16:00. Daily course entry is possible with advance booking. On course days, the windsurfing equipment is available for free practice after teaching hours, giving you the opportunity to further consolidate your skills on the water.

Kids' Courses
Learn Windsurfing at Lake Neusiedl with our dedicated kids’ windsurfing courses. We welcome children aged 8 to 12, introducing them to the basics of windsurfing in a fun, playful way. For children under 8, we offer private lessons, as they typically need more intensive supervision.
Lightweight Windsurfing Equipment for Kids
Our light and easy-to-handle windsurfing equipment for kids includes ultra-light sails—with inflatable iRigs for the youngest surfers—and responsive boards with reduced volume, making them easier to turn and maneuver. This setup helps children quickly gain confidence on the water while having fun.
Course Requirements & What to Bring
To participate in our windsurfing courses, students must be at least 8 years old. Younger children who are interested in learning can join private lessons for a more tailored experience. Basic swimming skills are essential for all participants to ensure safety on the water.
Please bring sun protection, swimwear, and a towel. We highly recommend bringing bathing shoes or neoprene shoes for more comfort..
For cooler days, we provide wetsuits to keep you comfortable. All necessary windsurfing equipment is included in the course price, so you can fully focus on learning and having fun on the water. Please note: The beach entrance fee is not included in the course price and must be paid separately.

Kids are getting their first windsurfing experience. An upgrade to more trial days or a 5-day basic course is possible if they enjoy and want to continue with surfing classes.

15-hour course for beginners. In a fun environment with other kids, kids learn the basics of windsurfing. At the end of the course they can take a short exam to acquire a junior windsurfing license.

Weeks of July and August
Windsurfing camp from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Camp is suited for beginners and surfers with slight prior knowledge (from 8 to 12 years). Kids can learn to surf in a fun environment and meet new friends. Stand Up Paddling, pedal boats, kayak games, and many more fun activities are also on the schedule.

For kids younger than 8 years who are interested in surfing, we offer private classes to teach them to surf. Private classes are possible anytime upon request.

INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED COURSES
Our intermediate course is ideal for windsurfers who already have basic windsurfing skill, a basic windsurfing license and can go upwind confidently.
The focus of the intermediate courses is the progression from basic school equipment to more advanced windsurfing gear and new maneuvers. Depending on your individual skill level and the prevailing wind conditions, you will work on maneuvers such as the beach start, fast tack, heli tack, windsurfing with a harness, and getting into planing.

All windsurfing equipment is included in the course price. Courses take place from 10:00 to 12:00 and can be booked for one to five days. Daily course entry is possible with advance booking. The five-day intermediate course includes an additional two hours of equipment rental for further independent practice.

Private Classes
We offer you personalized windsurf coaching at Lake Neusiedl. Private lessons provide the perfect opportunity to make fast and noticeable progress in a short time. Whether you’re looking to refine your technique or start from scratch, each session is individually tailored to your goals and needs. Private classes are also suited for children under 8 years old, as they require more intensive supervision to ensure a safe and fun learning experience.

Lessons are available upon request with flexible scheduling, ensuring you get the most out of your time on the water. All equipment, including wetsuits and harnesses, is provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own gear.
Price: € 89,- per 60-minute private class for one person.
For each additional participant we charge a fee of € 15 per person, plus the fee for the additional equipment rental.
